Viewing the list of sources
To see a list of sources already in use by your chatbot, in Chatbot Studio with the correct bot selected:
- Click AI KB in the left-hand menu.
- Optionally, you can filter the list by Application, Status or Tag, by using the respective drop-down lists.
For each source you will see:
- The Source, either its filename or link uploaded. When using crawl depth (see below), only the parent URL is shown.
- The Status, showing whether that source is Active, Inactive, Processing or Failed.
- The Type of source.
- How often the source will be Re-indexed.
- Which Application uses the source.
- Any Tags attached to the source
- The date the source was Updated.
About applications
The Application column shows which applications, are associated with the source.
When creating a new source, or editing an existing one, the Applications field lets you select one or more of the applications in your Studio environment. Initially, only Chatbot will be available, but later, other applications will be added to the list.
About tags
The Tags column shows which tags are associated with the source. Tags are user-defined flags which are only used to help filter and manage long lists of sources. They have no functional use, beyond making sources easier to find.
When creating a new source, or editing and existing one, the Tags field lets you select an existing tag from the drop-down list, or create a new tag. To create a new tag:
- Type the name for the new tag in the Tags drop-down list.
- Click the Create "name" link.
The new tag will be created and applied to the source.
Adding new sources
To add new material for your LLM chatbot to consider, in Chatbot Studio:
- Click AI KB in the left-hand menu.

Adding a source via a link
When adding sources from websites, you have two options. You can either specify:
- A single webpage. In this case you can specify a crawl depth, and AI knowledgebase will also look at pages linked from the original page. The depth indicates how far from the original page it should look. So, a crawl depth of 2 would look at two steps away from the original page: that is, any pages it links to, then any pages those pages link to.
The crawl depth has a maximum value of 3. - A list of multiple links. In this case you can list the specific sites to add as sources, but with no crawl depth, so only the listed pages will be included.
In the Add source dialog,

Alternatively, to specify multiple links:
