What is the new LeadDesk Windows Application?
Welcome to the next evolution of the LeadDesk Windows application, available from the downloads page. We have made significant changes to the underlying technology, allowing us to take advantage of advanced VoIP features.
It offers several advantages over running LeadDesk in a browser:
- Easier, more consistent version control. No mis-matched browsers or browser versions.
- No browser required. Restricting access to the application increases security and reduces distractions.
And over the current Windows application:
- Optimisation and resource management. The new version of the LeadDesk Windows application is built to be more efficient.
- Improved VoIP technology. In some cases, particularly with more complex setups, the new beta application can offer better voice quality. So you can try this, if you encounter any issues with sound quality.
- UPCOMING – in the future, we also plan to host this in the Microsoft store to allow automatic updates.
What is the scope of the beta?
This beta release is offered as is and there are some limitations to it.
- It does not currently include the additional sound controls available in the current version. If these are essential to your use case, please continue with the current Windows application.
- Similarly, the beta application is lacking some other features, such as the ability to upload recordings to your own server directly.
- We do not offer all the download variables (yet) as with our normal windows application.
What should you do if you encounter problems?
We appreciate any feedback about this release.
- If you have anything to say about it, or if you encounter any problems, please get in touch with the LeadDesk support team support@leaddesk.com.
- Be sure to mention you are using the LeadDesk Windows Application Beta.
That said, this beta release is not supported, and if you do encounter problems you cannot work around, please switch back to using either the current release of the Windows application, available from our downloads page, or the browser version of the software.
We plan to continue development of the beta application so that in the future we can distribute and support it in the normal ways.
